I'm seek out originality in an increasingly homogenised world.

Through my lens, I seek the unfiltered truth of self-expression.

ABOUT ME

I’m a portrait photographer based in Amsterdam. My work delves into self-expression, identity, and belonging. Known for my interactive "pop-up studio," I capture transformative moments of creativity, blending fine art with participatory storytelling.

But photography, for me, is not just about taking pictures—it’s about searching for originality in a world that increasingly rewards conformity.

Through my art, I encourage people to challenge assumptions, break free from expectations, and rediscover what makes us uniquely human.

Growing Up

Raised in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains, where self-expression often felt constrained. Even something as playful as Halloween was seen by some as dabbling in the occult. It was a place where tradition often outweighed self-expression, and standing out could mean standing alone.

That experience taught me the deep importance of finding communities where creativity isn’t stifled but celebrated—where you can express yourself freely, without fear of judgment.

SEEKING NEW PERSPECTIVES

I left the United States to study at Edith Cowan University in Australia, where I realised photography was not just a craft—it was my gateway to connecting with people on a deeper level.

While I didn't know it at the time this picture was taken, this was the beginning of a life of travelling the world through my photography.

My Creative journey

After a decade as a successful commercial photographer, I developed a deep longing to foster deeper connections and create meaningful photographs.

I began travelling to meet creative souls at festivals and events around the world.

My search for authenticity deepened as I travelled, and chance encounters with complete strangers behind my camera reinforced my belief that identity is not a fixed destination, but an evolving journey.

At the core of my work is a belief that everyone is an artist.

Not just those who paint, write, or compose, but anyone who has ever felt the urge to create, challenge, or dream. Yet society often suppresses this natural artistry, pushing us toward safe, familiar paths. True originality surfaces when we resist that pull and embrace the untamed chaos of our creative instincts.

STORIES FROM THE PEOPLE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED:

"The murga is a place I have lived since I was 12 years old. I started in the Carnival of Promises, a young murga, and today in the adult carnival. It's a space that I really enjoy. It's a school, you are constantly learning and doing a lot of things. With your voice you represent people who cannot do it. Up on stage you do politics, you're active. I always say the same thing, the carnival, but specifically the murga, is one of the things that fills my soul. And as the murga Falta y Resto said 'This revolution is made singing' and that's how I feel.”

My Pop-up Studio

I create spaces for vivid transformation. Whether set up on a bustling city street, in an intimate gallery, or an unexpected public space, it invites people to step forward, reveal themselves, and be seen as they truly are.

The portraits

Each portrait is more than an image— it’s a moment of authenticity, a visual declaration of individuality.

I believe in collaborative acts of storytelling, and creating a moment of authenticity with my subjects that transcends traditional photography, and transforms them into fine art.

Mayfies book spread on marble, Demoness & Queen of Hearts

lasting legacy

My first book, Mayflies, is a tribute to those brave enough to be themselves. I was inspired to create a lasting legacy of these people in their self-expressed beauty.

Through my work, I challenge us all to break free from the homogenised society around us, rediscover the art of seeing, and join a collective rebellion of self-expression.

Mayflies is a celebration of the artists, visionaries, and truth-seekers who dare to express their identities.

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK

As I continue my journey, I invite others to look beyond the surface, seek their untamed originality, and celebrate the artists among us— those who remind us that true belonging isn’t found in blending in, but in standing out.
